THAT CLASSIC DENIM IS A NECCESITY.
Denim has never once been out of style. It dates back to the early 1567 when it wasn't really a fashion statement or referred to as denim but as jeans. They only came as this pair of tough trousers worn by Italian merchant sailors from the coastal city of Genoa. It was only after the movie Rebel without a cause staring James Dean that popularised denim. It made so much of an impact that it became something revolutionary. Denim was now more than a piece of fabric. It became a statement.
Over time denim came in all designs, shapes and sizes. Whether it's was that sexy short skirt for casual occasions like birthdays, brunches and even that road trip and the occasional photo shoots. Then there's that pair of booty shorts for the beach or a weekend at home and then there's that little dress and don't get me wrong, length wasn't even a subject of question. As long as the fit was perfect you could pull off any form of denim.
The versatility in menswear up to date is even more perplexing seeing as to how men's clothing is underlooked. The prices are also not as exaggerated as your usual menswear and it's actually advisable to thrift most if your denim pieces.
Then there's the variety unisex pieces like the denim jackets and denim shirts. This pieces pull an interesting monochrome denim on denim. They are the perfect layering pieces. Whether it's on that hot, cool or chilli day, there's definitely a denim piece for all seasons.
Not to forget everyones favourite mom jeans, perfect with a good pair of canvas shoes or boots. Then there's the long denim coats and dungaree. Artists are such a sucker for this. I think their inspiration usually kicks in. I'm not sure if it's safe for pregnant women to wear this but I've seen a couple pulling it off.
This piece of fabric is such a fashion statement, it's inspiring even celebs to bring their game on, on the red carpet.
The next time you're out updating your closet remember to include that piece of denim. It is definitely a closet essential. It is a great thing that denim is affaordable and the thrifted option is actually the best.
