THE CHANTING TALES 2
Happy festivities ππ. So where were we? Aaah yes. Firstborns simpimg as lastbornsπ. It's always a dream come true for us,it's the only time you actually get to actively press pause on holding the weight of the world on your shoulders. Allow me catch you up, a legend was sent to the shop to fetch a few items for her mother's annual chama. She left home focused and singing to the mission but completely sidelined the mission when her friends presented her an offer to play house (kalongolongo) as the last born. Now that everyone's caught up....
Ofcourse I said an enthusiastic let's go.Kesi badae.
Let me tell you Maina,it was like one of those nights when you had just joined campus, your friends invite you out for kasherehe but you still living at home with your folks and you have to ask for permission but you don't .You party as though tomorrow will never come.
It was exactly how playing house(kalongolongo) went that day. Nothing was left to chance. We cooked, played hide and seek, skipped rope. Unakumbuka those songs we sang skipping rope? Ati pajero, baiskeli ama mkokoteni and whichever you stopped at certainly seemed like your fate?π Signed and sealed. How I wish life was that easy.
We turned grasshoppers into pets,"surgically" removing their legs and feeding them grass, aaaah, the tortureπππ. You'll see though how karma caught up with me in the end after torturing innocent grasshoppers. My friends and I were at the peak of having a good time when info that my mom was looking for me reached me and reality began to now kick in.
Ofcourse the reasonable thing to have done would have been to run home at that exact moment but who am I? Instead we took it up a notch, until the party was over no one was going home.
Two hours in and guess who shows up? Mama bear. All heated up.You could see the fury in her eyes and for a split second I thought I saw smoke coming out of her ears. This was the day folks, this was the day I was gone dieπ. The beat down started then and there, she dragged me home by my ears. Yelling and cursing.
Folks, hakukua na slippers za kuvaa hio siku kwa hio nyumba and throughout the entire week. Then she made a discovery. Every time I came into contact with water ningejikuna. Remember them hoppers we was playing with? Yes the one's we was cluelessly torturing. As it turns out grass can be itchy and mama had me take a bath. Niliitana
π₯Ίπ€£.
Looking back I actually am thankful that mom was never afraid to show me that with every action came a reaction and when I messed up she would never spare showing me there'd be consequences. So thank you for whooping my ass when I deserved it(actually asked for itπ
)Mamaπ.
